This year was full of excitement and adversity, but through it all we succeeded!!!!
Every hunt I go on is memorable in its own right for sure. From hunters forgetting their guns to bagging monsters. I particularly remember a hunt from third rifle season this year. Although I (Oran) wasn’t there for most of it. I came home to meet three of the most cheerful and exuberant firemen, I’ve ever met. Even though they had been on day 5 of a slog. I was to take out Camile a huge 6’5” man from the greater Chicago area. He had been hunting elk for a few years now but had not had the opportunity to bring one home. As we loaded into the CanAm I looked over to a huge smile ready for the hunt. I told Camile to pack light as we were going “Hunting” code word, we’re going to be walking. After a pretty quick paced and uphill climb, we peaked into a dark draw, and there he was a nice 5×5 laying there. Catching the last rays of the waning sun. I looked at a Camile and said there he is let’s see how that rifle shoots. As I stood there ranging the elk and Camile was setting up, I whispered, “He’s at 450 yards. How do you feel?” “I’m good to go.” “Okay take him whenever you want. “Camile made a remarkable shot, right to the heart, and that bull never took a step. The thing that hit home the most for me was, Camile’s absolute honest emotion and humility! It was an amazing day and hunt!
Thank you to all our guests this year!
